There is a certain pleasure in painting still life; once you have laid your subject and created the drama of light around it, you immediately get absorbed in the mood and atmosphere of the set up. Then, there is nothing but you and the subject, all else dissolves around you. It is thrilling and at the same time peaceful to forget everything else for a time.
