My first encounter with a Monet painting was in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY , USA. I stood spell bound , unable to move, mesmerized by his paintings… I knew then, painting in Impressionism was my calling, as I studied his artworks I reprise some of his beloved paintings and realized recreating them was more than the act, it was like a mystery of COLORS, COMPOSITION, THEME, ATMOSPHERE, unfolding with each stroke. Monet was so much an “outdoor”, “at the moment”, “atmospheric” artist that one can easily be transported to the exact time and place where he painted his subjects.
